DOG SOCIAL LEARNING
This new way of dog training is based on teaching dogs through social interaction where we show the dog to “do as I do” (DAID). (Method created by Claudia Fugazza, Ph.D., of Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, Hungary)
Why DAID dog training works?
When we see friendly dogs interact with each other, one of them usually picks up habits from the other one, especially if they’re around each other frequently. One dog will see what the other dog is doing and mimic it. We also know that if a puppy has an older trained dog in a household, the puppy progresses much faster because the puppy has a role model to follow and mimic.
The “Do as I do” behavior naturally happens with dogs, however, this method is now being used in dog training as another way to teach obedience and good behavior.
At AZ Dog Smart we strive to keep up to date on advances in dog training. It’s more of a higher learning for those who want to be a dog trainer and it’s based on positive, reward-based techniques.
